The Serbian Cactus Association was founded in 1994 by a group of people in love with these “spiky” plants, who realized that they would add a one more new dimension to their hobby under their current formation. And they were right!
Ever since then, their collections have begun to increase, new “xerophilics” have emerged, new collections across Serbia have begun, many social events have been taking place and true friendships have been forged – meaning that cultivation of cacti in Serbia has started to move in a new, better direction.
Ever since then much has been done to popularize the cultivation of succulent plants. Numerous exhibitions were held, and part of the tradition is the performance at BeoPlantFair Horticulture Fair at Belgrade Fair every spring.
