Global Exhibitions Day will be promoting the project designs of students’ attending the Faculty of Architecture, i.e., designs dedicated to possible renovation of Belgrade Fair complex and redefinition of its ambient status. The exhibition is set to take place on Wednesday, 5 June at 12:00 in front of Belgrade Fair administration building.
“Accessible City” is the name of an integral design solution to urban regeneration of Belgrade Fair environment positioned in the Sava riverbank and part of Senjak stretching along the Boulevard of Vojvode Misica – from the Ada to Gazela Bridge. This was an application task at master academic studies for students attending the Faculty of Architecture in the school year 2016/2017, whose goal, on the one hand, was to explore possibilities of enhancing mobility and accessibility at the main traverse in Belgrade (Belgrade Fair), and on the other envisage the spatial-morphological and functional content that will regenerate the urban part of the city district (Belgrade Fair, the Sava riverbank and part of Senjak) so as to raise the quality of life and provide safe and top quality movement throughout the city. Such approach places people at the center of attention in urban design, which implies city adjustment to new types of movement, primarily to public transport, walking and cycling, whereas transformation of city open spaces from roads- primarily intended for cars to streets designed for both people and other types of movement -is expected with great anticipation.
Furthermore, on the occasion of Global Exhibitions Day in 2019, Pošta Srbije – the national postal service of Serbia, has issued an exclusive and limited series of special postage stamps. This philatelic rarity is also a part of Belgrade Fair tradition, which marks significant dates and anniversaries.
