Tourism Organization of Ljubovija organizes this year the tenth edition of the International Drina Gastronomic Festival. During the decade long experience, the Gastronomic Festival was growing and getting more features and there is continuous growth of the number of the competing teams and visitors.
The competition in various cooking skills is organized at the Gastronomic Festival – preparation of fish soup, ethnic meals, modern cuisine, bakery, pastry, curving (artistic cutting of fruits and vegetables) and through the competition in fast onion cutting, the fastest cook of the Gastronomic Festival is selected. Owing to the jury members actively working in various international cooking Associations, the awards won in Ljubovija are internationally accepted.
The Gastronomic Festival participants are cooks from the whole Serbia and the neighboring countries, which enables the visitors to enjoy various tastes from the whole region. Featuring their cooking skills, the guests feature the meals specific for the regions they come from and the local cook prepare the alphabet specialties.
The fish soup cooking is carried out in the main street, where the soup is boiled with trumpet sounds, in a happy atmosphere. Other competing disciplines are organized nearby, which actually unites the Festival exhibiting space.
The competitors come to Ljubovija as guests and leave it as friends, as pointed out in the Tourism Organization of Ljubovija. Many teams have got ten years of experience, as they have been participating since the first event. The Festival was expanding fast owing to their positive impression transfer.
The Festival objective is to present Ljubovija as a town where people with high environmental awareness live, the place of eating healthy organic food, tasteful, with good entertainment and having a good time.
