The International Belgrade Book Fair, the most prestigious literary manifestation in this part of Europe, will be held for the 69th time this year, from October 23rd to 31st, within the halls of the Belgrade Fairgrounds. It will once again unite book lovers, avid readers, authors, publishers, and cultural luminaries from Serbia and across the globe.
This year’s evocative slogan – “Words Build Worlds,” serves as a poignant reminder that every single book opens the door to a completely new universe, a world awaiting discovery, shaped by words that in turn shape who we are as human beings. It is precisely within this vibrant intersection of words, people, and ideas that the enduring legacy of the Book Fair truly thrives.
The Guest of Honor at the 69th International Belgrade Book Fair will be Tunisia, which will showcase its rich literary and cultural heritage, alongside a dynamic contemporary creative scene and immense cultural diversity, in the central arena of Hall 2, featuring prominent Tunisian guests, writers, and artists.
One of the central program focuses of this year’s Book Fair will be the monumental anniversaries celebrating Serbian literature and culture, the lives and legacies of our iconic writers, as well as the historic jubilees of vital cultural institutions. Marking the bicentenary of his birth, the complete literary opus of Ljubomir Nenadović will be celebrated, alongside the 150th anniversary of the births of both Milan Rakić and Borisav Stanković. The centenary of their births will serve as an occasion to honor the memories of Pavle Ugrinov and Danilo Nikolić. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of his passing, the profound work of Radoslav Bratić will also be spotlighted.
Special tribute will be paid to foundational Serbian cultural institutions. Among them are Matica Srpska, celebrating 200 years since its historic founding; the “Svetozar Marković” University Library, marking 100 years since its establishment; and the Ivo Andrić Foundation, commemorating 50 years of preserving the Nobel laureate’s legacy, alongside other institutions of exceptional significance to the culture of Serbia.
Traditionally, every Thursday in the Book Fair calendar is dedicated to School Day, which falls this year on Thursday, October 29th. Family Days are Monday and Tuesday, October 26th and 27th, when entire families can visit the Book Fair together using a single, specially priced family ticket.
The opening hours of the 69th International Belgrade Book Fair are from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and the price of a standard individual admission ticket is 450 RSD.
From October 23rd to 31st, the Belgrade Fairgrounds will—as it has every October for nearly seven decades—become a sanctuary where people read, converse, discover, and remember. A place where words meet people – and build worlds.
