The basketball tournament “NIS Open Air,” which was initially planned to be held at Kalemegdan, will now take place over the weekend, from September 13 to 15, in Hall 3 of the Belgrade Fair.
On Monday, September 9, the organizers announced that the scheduled NIS Open Air tournament, which was set to be held at the outdoor courts of KK Partizan at Mali Kalemegdan this coming weekend, is moved to Hall 3 of the Belgrade Fair due to expected bad weather conditions.
The decision was made for the teams of Partizan, Paris, and AEK to compete at the venue where Partizan first played on January 21, 1967, in the Cup Winners’ Cup against the Turkish team ITU (80:58 in favor of Partizan). Until then, domestic championships had been played on outdoor courts, and the mentioned game was KK Partizan’s first debut on the European stage in Belgrade. (Interestingly, in 1961, although at Hall 1 of the Belgrade Fair, the European Championship was held, where the former SFR Yugoslavia won the silver medal after losing to the USSR 53:60 in the final.) The black-and-whites stayed at the Fair until moving to the legendary Hall of Sports in December 1968.
With this announcement, the Club has revealed that the fairground hall will be adapted to FIBA standards within just 72 hours and will have seating for 5,000 viewers. It was also mentioned that the seating arrangement will remain the same as the one planned for Kalemegdan, so the tickets purchased will still be valid.
On this occasion, the Serbian and regional vice-champion will also take the opportunity to unveil the new Under Armour jerseys for the eighth consecutive year, which will be worn in the 2024/25 season. Fans will see the black-and-whites for the first time in the new kit from the renowned American equipment manufacturer, which has been “outfitting” Partizan’s basketball team for eight seasons.
On the first day of the tournament, September 13, at 7 PM, Partizan will face AEK. On Saturday, September 14, also at 7 PM, Paris will play against AEK, while on Sunday, September 15, at 9 PM, Partizan will meet Paris, the new EuroLeague member.
The entire tournament will be broadcast live on TV Arena Sport.
