On 6 June 2018, Belgrade Fair, the exhibition industry holder in this part of Europe, also celebrates the Global Exhibitions Day.

This day was promoted in 2018 as the opportunity to highlight the global importance of the exhibition industry and its positive impact on jobs, business, innovation and local investment. Already in the first year, it was celebrated in more than 60 countries around the world, under participation of more than 1000 attendees and more than 30 Partnership Associations. The idea was, under the slogan “Think Global – Act Local”, to perform various activities on this Day all over the planet with the mutual objective to highlight the outstanding importance, but also vitality of the exhibition industry.

This global exhibition industry, with Belgrade Fair as a respected factor, understands at present about 31,000 exhibitions of various size and format, with more than 4,4 million attending companies contacting more than 260 million visitors. At the annual level they generate about 98 billion Euros revenues.

According to the data of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) for 2017, Belgrade Fair is one of the 1212 global Fairs having not less than 5,000 square meters of indoor exhibiting space (by some measures, Belgrade Fair has got even 20 times more space than the bottom line) and the total indoor exhibiting space of all these fair events reached 34.8 million square meters. Supporting the statement the exhibition industry is under expansion; continuous increase of the global exhibition space for the annual average of 1.3% since 2011 has been noticed.

It is almost certain UFI was inspired by the last year’s exclusive research about Belgrade Fair impact on Serbian economy when it estimated the “equivalent” of 680 thousand people with full working time was at the time directly engaged in the complex exhibition industry, but indirectly, related to the tourism, transport, accommodation, food and drinks supply, etc. it engaged the additional 1.8 million “equivalent” employees with full working time, i.e. much more if their real engagement from time to time is counted.

By chance, the Global Exhibitions Day coincides in a way with the end of the spring exhibition season, which was successful for Belgrade Fair. This fact is especially contributed by successful execution of the traditional Fair supports – the Fairs of Tourism, Cars, Building Trade and Technics.

The anniversary 40th edition of the International Belgrade Tourism Fair justified the title of the most successful regional tourism event, marked by new attendees, new destinations, supreme presentations and attractions. This concerns also the side events – Hospitality Equipment Fair Horeca Equipment, Wine Fair BeoWine and the Souvenir Fair. More than 1,200 exhibitors from 55 global countries attended it, featuring the tourism offer, culture and habits, wines and specialties used by them to attract tourists and guests and among more than 70,000 visitors, quite many of them were the business ones. Beside Greece, the Partner Country of this year’s Tourism Fair, the exhibition was marked by the premiere attendance of South African Republic, Palestine, Morocco, but also Russian Federation, which attended it for the first time last year and returned this year, estimating Serbian market as a high quality and profitable one and the exhibition as the leading event, where they feature successfully to the whole region and this part of Europe.

The real boom was made by the DDOR BG Car Show 06 and 12th International Show of Motorcycles, Spare Parts and Equipment Motoapassion, which attracted by their programs the fascinating 133,000 visitors. This event will remain remembered not only by the sales of 3,000 vehicles of all categories, which shows the recovery and rising line of the automobile market, but also by 306 exhibitors from the automobile industry of about twenty countries, featuring 34 car brands with 41 premieres or quite new car models. The Motorcycle Show hosted 73 exhibitors, featuring 36 brand motorcycles, ATV and other motor vehicles and bicycles with even 41 new models. In total, at both Shows, there were about 600 various vehicle models exhibited.

The 44th Building Trade Fair SEEBBE, with the related exhibition 10th StoneExpo Serbia, also showed why it was the largest civil engineering event in this part of Europe. More than 600 exhibitors from 27 global countries showed the innovations and technological achievements within the contemporary and functional approach to the construction, the models for space fitting and the environmental standards setting, defining the new, environment friendly living culture. Two new thematic units were promoted, as well – Real Estate and Investments and Architecture and Urbanism. Thus, no wonder there were even more business visitors than in the previous year among about 35,000 visitors.

The 62nd International Fair of Technics and Technical Achievements, the oldest and most respected regional fair event devoted to technics, technical and technological achievements and innovations, did not lag behind the previous ones. The Fair featured about 600 exhibitors (one third the international ones) from 30 countries at five continents. The Fair was full of news and innovations and one of the key side events was the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the broadcasting of the regular TV program in Serbia, just from the Studio at Belgrade Fair. However, the Fair will be remembered by many big, immediately reported concluded jobs, worth several million Euros.

Similar characteristics deserve also other Belgrade Fair events, such as Nautical, Hunting and Fishing Fair or Horticulture Fair with exhibitions, but also those where Belgrade Fair is “only” the business partner and logistic support, among them the Third Age Fair, CACIB, Children’s Fair, Cosmetic Fair and others.

The autumn program also promises both attractions and jobs. The first one among the original Belgrade Fair events in this line is the September Fair of Graphic, Paper and Creative Industry (with BiroExpo event), perhaps the most propulsive industrial branches in general. October is opened by the innovative trio – Energy, Environment Fair and 112 EXPO, at the same venue and time, a fair presentation without competition in this part of Europe. Medicine and Dental Medicine Fair follows, one of “continuously rising” fair events expected most impatiently by the interested audience. October is finished by also a spectacular trio – the legendary Book Fair, Education Fair and Media Fair. This should not be discussed, since it is the orientation in the living schedule of a modern man. November is not without trumps, either, since it is the venue for another Fair support – Furniture Fair with the Fair of Machines, Production Materials and Tools, then the Ethnic Food and Drink Fair and Expozim. December belongs to the Complex Mosaic of Serbia (the “National Minority Fair”) and the Amusement park before the New Year’s Eve.

Finally, this is just the most important part of the “original” Belgrade Fair offer. If you include among them the events where Belgrade Fair is the partner, co-organizer or host, and they are |countless” – from Children’s Fair, Cosmetic Fair or Belfis (Fitness, Wellness and Health), through Games, Sport Fair or Cacib, up to the amazing Science Festival – the Fair experience becomes almost the fest, even daily.

Belgrade Fair as company and people representing it has got the awareness of its tradition, social responsibilities and the circumstances that must not be missed. The only remaining thing for the exhibitors and visitors is to assure themselves permanently, to the mutual satisfaction.
