Under the support of Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, Belgrade City Assembly, PDI Fund, City Institute for Public Health, Retired Persons Associations and Patient Association, the Third Age Fair (55+) was festively opened at Belgrade Fair. The Fourth Fair intended for senior townsmen was organized also this year by Senior Media, under cooperation with Belgrade Fair, Gerontology Center, Work Unit Daytime Centers and Clubs of Belgrade.

This is an event where the oldest ones have got the opportunity to show all their activities, but also the way they preserve the good spirit of Belgrade from the old times. At the same time, at the 55+ Fair both the youth and Belgrade show they take care of their townsmen at the third age. And for all of them more than 70 exhibitors prepared the relevant offer related to all living sections.

Pointing out that was a unique event, Siniša Mali, Mayor of Belgrade, said at the Festive Opening more than 25 thousand retired persons passed through Belgrade Fair halls since the event establishing to the present. With the remark they can see the social policy at one place, contact medical doctors and pharmacists or get together and have a good time, the Mayor said:

– Our oldest townsmen know we have responsible social policy, we opened five new clubs in two years and engaged many gerontological hostesses. We organized and were together at many picnics, we were cruising on the Sava and the Danube, but this is our way to thank them. I would particularly like to point out I have never seen more smiles, positive energy, knowledge and skills than in the clubs and at the places where just this generation gets together.

The retired persons were approached also by Aleksandar Vulin, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy, who said it was nice that more generations get together, having friendly relations, since no one deserves to be alone in the two million people city:

– I am pleased that some of you took their grandchildren, since this is the year of intergeneration solidarity and we should be together, have a good time. Whenever it was necessary, you were here – at the time of floods, saving, always taking the heaviest burden, just to make it better for the children and grandchildren. We have to thank you for your renunciation, struggling spirit, for saving the future of your children. Even if the following generations give much less, this will be a happy country, concluded Vulin.

The Third Age Fair is held on May 24 and 25, at the Hall 3. It is open for visitors from 10.00 a. m. to 5.00 p. m. The entry is free of charge.
